SM50 and SM51 – Work Process and SAP Servers

SAP Menu : Choosing Tools-> Administration-> Administration-> Monitor-> System Monitoring -> Process Overview or tcode SM50

Type: Work process types:

• DIA: work process for executing dialogs steps in user transactions
• UPD: Update process for making time critical database changes
• UP2: Update process for not time critical database changes
• ENQ: for setting and releasing locks on SAP lock objects
• BGD: for executing background jobs
• SPO: for spool formatting processes

SAP Menu : Choosing Tools-> Administration-> Administration-> Monitor-> System Monitoring -> Server or tcode SM51
Display a list of application servers that have registered themselves with the SAP message sever. Will list which server are active SAP System

Message Types: Services provided by the application server. This contain configured SAP Work Process types (Dialog, update, Enqueue, Batch and Spool)

Release Notes: Display detailed information for an application server (SAP Kernel, database, OS)
